Recently, there have reportedly been some changes made to YouTube’s algorithm. As a result of these changes, you may have noticed an influx of seemingly random videos being recommended to you on your home page. Many people have reported that content intended for children has been popping up in their recommendations.
Want to fix up your recommendations on YouTube and make your home screen more personalized? Watch this video to learn how to customize your YouTube app home page.
When you open up the YouTube app on your mobile device, scroll through your home page until you see a video recommendation you want to get rid of. Then tap the three dots to the right of the video title. From the menu that appears, select Not Interested if the video doesn’t look like something you want to watch, or Don’t Recommend This Channel if you never want to see suggested videos posted by that specific channel. The suggestion will then be hidden from your home page. Keep scrolling through and flagging videos you’re not interested in. This will help YouTube better understand what kind of content you’re actually interested in. When you’re done, scroll back up to the top and refresh your homepage by dragging the page down from the top. You should see improved recommendations appearing on your home page.
