There’s a new feature on YouTube that helps you keep track of how much time you spend watching videos, and can remind you to take breaks every so often. Watch this video to learn how to use the “Time Watched” feature on the YouTube mobile app.
If you haven't downloaded the YouTube mobile app yet, download it for your device now:
YouTube for iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/youtu...
YouTube for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...
To access the Time Watched page on YouTube, open the YouTube app on your Android or iOS device and tap your profile icon in the top right corner. Then select Time Watched from the menu that appears. Here you’ll be able to see the amount of time you’ve spent on YouTube based on your watch history. You’ll see your total amount of time spent on YouTube today, yesterday, and in the past week, as well as your daily average. For some people, this information may be a bit eye-opening and really show you how much time you waste just sitting watching videos.
At the bottom of your screen, you’ll see a couple of tools to manage your time spent on YouTube. The first is a break reminder. Tap the switch beside “remind me to take a break” to enable this feature. This will set up reminders from YouTube so you don’t end up spending to much time watching videos. If you tap the amount of time listed below, you can adjust the amount of time spent on YouTube before you’ll get a reminder. The other option at the bottom is Autoplay. When Autoplay is enabled, you’re more likely to spend more time on YouTube because videos will automatically play one after another. To disable this feature, tap the switch beside it. When the switch turns from blue to grey, Autoplay has been disabled.
