This video is a fully robotic Roux en-Y Gastric Bypass, using the da Vinci Xi and its 45mm robotic staple system. The video is edited minimally to show the procedure in its entirety, and speed at times 3 to save time. The patient is a 55 year old male with a BMI of 56. My robotic technique for bypass is an antecolic, antegastric handsewn gastro-jejunostomy. The biliopancreatic limb is 65 cm and the roux limb is 100cm. I usually handsew the closure of the j-j defect in 2 layers, but I staple it in this video. I use 6 ports: 1 - 5mm Nathanson Liver Retractor, 1 - 8mm Air Seal assistant port, 1 - 12mm port for stapler (arm 1), 3 - 8mm standard Xi robotic instrument arms with the Camera on arm 2.
